Certification Information

Graduates of the Long Island AuD Consortium are eligible for certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and New York state licensure in audiology.

An audiology student performs a hearing evaluation at Adelphi.

Application Requirements and Deadlines

The application deadline for Fall admission is February 1. Applicants for this program should have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA and must submit the following:

  • Application submitted through CSDCAS
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Personal 300-word essay describing why you want to pursue a doctoral degree and your diverse qualities and/or experiences
  • Official transcripts from all prior institutions and proof of bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution
  • In-person interview for qualified candidates
  • GRE Optional

Students are required to show transcript evidence of the following six prerequisite courses at the time of application:

  • Phonetics
  • Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech and Hearing Mechanism
  • Speech and Language Development
  • Speech and/or Hearing Sciences
  • Speech and/or Language Disorders
  • Introduction to Audiology

Additional requirements include courses in the following areas:

  • Physical Sciences
  • Biological Sciences
  • Social Sciences
  • Mathematics/Statistics

Applicants whose native language is not English are required to complete a separate admissions application and to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (minimum score 550 pen and paper / 213 computer-based / 80 Internet-based test).

TOEFL requirements will be waived if you can prove that you earned your bachelor’s degree in a university/college in the United States or the following countries:
